Deep Tissue/Myofascial Release

Deep Tissue Massage aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. This is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries.

Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is common 24-48 hours after the treatment.  Drinking plenty of water after your massage will help aid to flush and remove toxins.

Gua Sha and Scraping Therapy

Gua Sha is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).  A Jade tool, or similar, is used to scrape skin to relieve pain and tension, and to stimulate immune system. This technique also may be used to treat muscle pain and can break down scar tissue. Sometimes referred to as scraping, or coining, this action can cause red/purple bruising (raspberries) known as petechiae or Sha and can last a few days or more.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. A trigger point is a knot in a specific muscle area that will not relax. By relaxing the knot, pain can be decreased in other parts of the body called the “referred pain” areas. Trigger points are built up over time often due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress.

During your session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques in order to release your tight areas in the muscle thus alleviating pain.

This type of therapy can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Baguanfa Cupping Therapy

Cupping is ancient Chinese healing. Baguanfa cupping is with use of soft silicone cups, rather than the first use of traditional glass cupping with fire. The negative pressure that the cups create draws blood to the affected area to increase overall blood flow.  The increased blood flow can release muscle tension and stress, increase circulation, reduce inflammation, relieve muscle and joint pain, improve athletic performance and mobility, and shorten recovery time.
